Floor Leader Herron Begins New Leadership Work in Nashville January 6– Senator Roy Herron (D-Dresden) returned to Nashville this week to prepare for next week’s start of the legislative session. In addition to working on his legislative agenda, Herron met with both Senate and House leaders in his new role as Senate Democratic Floor Leader. Typically, the elected leadership of both the House and Senate meet prior to the beginning of the legislative session in order to ensure efficient operation of the legislative process. As part of the leadership team, Herron has the opportunity to help shape the agenda that will guide the new 104th General Assembly. “This year, part of my personal legislative agenda includes meth, health care, and education,” Herron said. “I’m crafting bills to address these issues.” Herron said now was the time for bipartisan cooperation on Tennessee ’s most pressing issues. “Elections are behind us, challenges are before us and now we need to work together in a bipartisan way to serve Tennessee.” |
