God and Politics Book Tour: Dickson, Houston, Humphreys, Benton, Henry and Carroll Counties

Congressional candidate Roy Herron will talk with citizens about the importance of faith and public service this week as a part of his God and Politics book tour.

 

Herron will host public gatherings in Dickson County at 9 a.m., Houston County at 10:30 a.m., Humphreys County at 12 p.m., Benton County at 1:30 p.m., Henry County at 3 p.m. and Carroll County at 4:30 p.m. 

 

In the book, Herron shares how Biblical values have shaped America and tells why and how people of faith should help lead this country.

 

“I hope people will read the book and see how Christians can and should be in politics and public service,” Herron said. “America needs more people of faith in leadership.”

 

Herron has served as a minister, taught ministerial students and still teaches Sunday school. As a part-time citizen legislator, Herron wrote Tennessee’s laws that protect both Bible study and prayer in public schools. Herron is pro-life and for traditional marriage.

 

In its third printing since 2005, God and Politics has nine chapters including “Doing Justice,” “Protecting Life,” “Defending Freedom” and “Beyond Partisanship.” The new edition contains photographs of Herron, his wife Nancy and their three sons.

 

Herron, a Christian author, has written three books, Sunday school and devotional literature, as well as articles of biblical scholarship.

 

As part of his campaign to represent the 8th District in the U.S. Congress, Herron recently sent his book to thousands of households across West and Middle Tennessee.

Haywood County - Jobs Listening Tour

Roy Herron launches his Jobs Listening Tour on Monday, February 8th with stops in Lauderdale and Haywood counties, the district's hardest hit counties.

Herron will be in Haywood County at 10:00 a.m. to meet with small business owners and local leaders and hear their ideas about what he could do in Congress to help grow and save jobs.

The meeting will be at the Brownsville/Haywood Chamber of Commerce (upstairs in Chamber Conference Room) at 121 West Main Street in Brownsville, TN.

At 18.5 percent, Haywood County ranks fourth among Tennessee counties in terms of joblessness, according to December 2009 estimates released by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Lauderdale County - Jobs Listening Tour

Roy Herron launches his Jobs Listening Tour on Monday, February 8th with stops in Lauderdale and Haywood counties, the district's hardest hit counties.

Herron will be in Lauderdale County at 8:00 a.m. to meet with small business owners and local leaders and hear their ideas about what he could do in Congress to help grow and save jobs.

The meeting will be at the UT Martin Ripley Center, 315 South Washington in Ripley, TN.

Lauderdale County has the highest unemployment rate in the state at 18.9 percent, according to December 2009 estimates released by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
